About
Mexico City has become the first capital in Latin America to be recognized as Queer Destinations Committed, a distinction awarded by the international organization Queer Destinations in alliance with the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA). This milestone reflects the city’s deep commitment to fostering inclusive, safe, and respectful experiences for LGBTQ+ travelers. Through the implementation of the “Hospitality Meets Diversity” program, the Mexico City Ministry of Tourism has trained tourism providers across the city’s 16 boroughs—alongside government staff—to deliver services with cultural competence and a deep understanding of LGBTQ+ inclusion. This distinction positions Mexico City as not only a global cultural powerhouse but a leader in inclusive tourism across Latin America.
As one of the largest and most dynamic metropolises in the world, Mexico City offers an extraordinary mix of history, creativity, and progressive spirit. Neighborhoods such as Zona Rosa, Coyoacán, and Roma-Condesa are renowned for their LGBTQ+ friendliness, vibrant nightlife, and artistic pulse. From the annual Pride March that gathers hundreds of thousands in the heart of the capital, to film festivals, queer art spaces, and grassroots activism, the city celebrates diversity not as an initiative, but as a lived, everyday reality. With ancient Aztec ruins, colonial architecture, cutting-edge cuisine, and a growing network of inclusive businesses, Mexico City provides travelers not just with a destination—but a cultural movement where all identities are visible, welcomed, and celebrated.
