Queer Destinations has successfully concluded its participation in Madrid Pride (MADO) 2026, marking a milestone year for the organisation after becoming the first brand to give its name to the iconic main stage at Puerta del Sol. Throughout three days of celebrations, the Queer Destinations Stage welcomed thousands of visitors with a diverse programme of live music, performances and cultural experiences that celebrated diversity, visibility and inclusion.

The event brought together internationally recognised artists, emerging talent and leading voices from the LGBTQ+ community, transforming one of Madrid’s most emblematic public spaces into a meeting point for celebration, culture and connection. Beyond the performances, the stage reflected Queer Destinations’ ongoing commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and represented.

MADO 2026 also reinforced Madrid’s position as one of the world’s leading LGBTQ+ travel destinations. The celebration attracted more than 1.5 million attendees and generated a significant increase in travel demand, with accommodation searches rising by 70% nationally and 33% internationally compared with the previous year. These figures highlight the growing impact of Pride not only as a cultural event but also as a driver of tourism and economic activity.

“We are working to ensure that inclusion is not a one-off initiative, but an international standard. Being part of the main stage of one of Europe’s largest Pride celebrations demonstrates how tourism, culture and entertainment can generate positive social impact and create spaces where everyone feels safe, welcome and represented.”

Edgar Weggelaar, CEO of Queer Destinations

For Queer Destinations, participating in MADO goes beyond sponsoring an event. It reflects the organisation’s mission to promote safer, more inclusive travel experiences by working with destinations, hospitality businesses and industry partners committed to internationally recognised LGBTQ+ inclusion standards.

As the celebrations come to a close, Queer Destinations continues to build on the momentum created during MADO, expanding its global network and supporting destinations that believe travel should be welcoming, authentic and accessible for everyone.
